Naturopathy

Naturopathy relies on natural remedies such as sunlight, air, water, and diet. Naturopathy is centered around the concept that the body has the natural ability to heal itself.

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a primary health-care system emphasizing
prevention, treatment and the promotion of optimal health through the
use of natural therapeutic methods and modalities.

It is the art and science of disease diagnosis, treatment and
prevention using natural therapies including botanical medicine,
clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy*, homeopathy**, physical medicine,
and lifestyle counseling.

Naturopathic medicine is an approach to healthcare derived from the
latest scientific understanding of the human body, as well as from
long-standing traditional systems of healing, and treats acute and
chronic illnesses in all age groups.

*Hydrotherapy is a treatment which includes, among other treatments,
the applications of hot and cold water to stimulate the body’s natural
healing processes.

*Homeopathy is a system of medicine widely used throughout the world
which uses the principle of “like cures like” to rapidly, gently, and
permanently address many common health complaints using a truly
holistic evaluation of the patient’s condition.

What is a Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.)?

Naturopathic physicians are primary care providers trained in
conventional medical sciences, diagnosis and treatment, and are
experts in natural therapeutics. Naturopathic Doctors seek to aid
patients in restoring and maintaining optimum health by emphasizing
nature’s inherent self-healing process.

A Naturopathic Doctor views the individual as an integral whole
including the physiological, psychological, social, spiritual,
environment and lifestyle factors affecting health. The primary goal
is to treat the underlying cause of the disease, and treatments are
chosen based on the individual patient. This approach has proven
successful in treating both chronic and acute conditions.

Naturopathic doctors can also complement and enhance health care
services provided by other health care professionals. They cooperate
with other branches of medical science referring patients to other
practitioners for diagnosis or treatment when appropriate.
Naturopathic Doctors provide patients with a truly integrative form of
health care.

Naturopathic Doctors are licensed through the California Bureau of
Naturopathic Medicine
